Corporate Courses

Courses are arranged after consultation between the client / client group and ELH.  These courses are ideal for groups with specific language requirements who would like to target their needs in a very controlled way.

Most of our business customers are executives, customer service staff, or technicians from overseas offices of International Companies.

Most of our teaching is done on-site, either one-to-one at your own desk or in groups in a conference or meeting room, thereby eliminating time wasted in travelling.

We can organise training times to suit you, during working hours, in a lunch break, or in the evenings or at weekends.

COST:

The price of courses varies and will depend upon the number of students in the group and the number of lessons you pre book. Lessons start from £9 per person per hour.

Free Level Test!
As a special introductory offer, we are offering a free level test for your staff. The test takes about one hour, and consists of a short paper (multiple choice) and an interview. At the end, we will be able to give you an objective assessment of the candidate's language level

Needs analysis:
The needs analysis is based on the test and the staff profile. The test has established what the member of staff can do in the language. From discussions with supervisors, management and the trainee, we can develop a profile of what he or she needs to be able to do. The difference between the two is the training gap. This is where we target our language training, where it can have most effect. This process of negotiation is painstaking, and is designed to ensure that the training has the full support of all parties.

Topics

Typical lessons may be based around the following topics:
Asking questions
Presentations
Telephone skills
Negotiations
Socialising
Writing Business reports
Business Reading
Talking to customers (front of house)
Following instructions
Understanding safety

Our front-of-house courses are based almost entirely on speaking, and might involve for example:
Production of key utterances
Listening skills for the most common variations at native-speaker speed
Repair strategies e.g. "I'm sorry I didn't get that sir. Could you repeat it please?"
Escape strategies e.g. "I'm sorry sir, we don't sell that. Perhaps you could…"
Referral Strategies e.g. "Just one moment please. I'll get the manager."
Most teaching at this level is done through role-play and simulation.
Brisk pace and 100% job-related content ensures motivation

Reporting

We provide weekly, monthly, and interim reports as required, either to the company's customised format or on our own standard form, covering a range of points including attendance, motivation, aptitude and progress over a number of key measures.
Regular progress tests are just one of many indicators that are used to measure and report on trainees

Examinations

Where appropriate we encourage trainees to prepare for an examination, such as The London Chamber of Commerce examinations in Spoken and Written English for Business. This provides an objective measurement of progress and a well-defined goal. It is also an asset for the employee's career development.

Materials

Wherever possible we base much of our teaching on in-company texts - manuals, handbooks, publicity, newsletters, etc. This is very motivating for staff, who can see that the English they are learning is of practical use, and it also helps to ensure that terminology is up-to-date and that spoken and written language match the house style.
Additionally we use the latest published specialist materials for business language training, supplemented with tailor-made material where necessary.
