Milton Keynes, a modern town in a historic county.
Milton Keynes is in the South East of England in the country of Buckinghamshire. The area is very popular with commuters because it is very close to London. Milton Keynes is the largest town in Buckinghamshire and has excellent travel links. People can travel here very easily by air, train, coach and car. Buckinghamshire is very famous because the first Duke of Buckingham built Buckingham Palace in 1703. |
In the 1960s plans for the new town of Milton Keynes began and the town started to grow from 1967 onward. The area was chosen because it is only 30 mins away from London and 45 mins way from Oxford and Cambridge. Today Milton Keynes is a modern town with wide grid roads and roundabouts to make car travel less congested. There is a lot to do and see in and around Milton Keynes and many people who work in London like to live here because they can travel into London by train very quickly and they can rent or buying a house here more cheaply than in London.

WATCH FOOTBALL, RUGBY ETC AT THE STADIUM MK
Milton Keynes stadium was built in 2007. It is in the south west of the city. Many football, and rugby matches take place at Milton Keynes stadium. In 2015 three Rugby world cup matches were played at Milton Keynes stadium.
